Up Marden from St Michael’s Church

Up Marden is a Hamlet of farms, with animals crazing on the hills. There is space for 2 or 3 cars by the church. Our walk begins at the church and continues down a steep slope, ending in a gentler ascent. The ancient church of St Michael’s is apparently C13 it’s interior has un-restored wall paintings, and decorative tin candle holders. For refreshments there is a pub Coach and Horses and village shop and Café at Compton. Village Shop & Tearoom
